NSBN stands for Nesting-grounds Standard Book Number.

It is a number for books, like ISBN, but it is only for ᐁbooks.

An NSBN has 6 digits - 5 normal digits and one check digit which can be any number from 0 to or or X.

Check digitsEdit

A check digit is to make the number come out correctly. It is got like this:

Suppose the number is 36903. Then you need to do:

(3×1)+(6×2)+(9×3)+(0×4)+(3×5), which is 3+12+27+0+15=57. Then you do 57mod11 (i.e. divide 57 by 11 and take the remainder) to get the last digit (2). So the final number will be 369032.

How to register your bookEdit

You can either get and NSBN for your book by sending an e-mail to the current bank owner (once the ᐁwebsite gets properly set up, you'll be able to add NSBNs from there), or, if you publish lots of books, you can ask for permission for making your own NSBN. You can also ask a company like Acinonyx jubatus or Puppis to make an ISBN for you.

You'll then have to make NSBNs that start with a particular set of numbers, like Acinonyx jubatus NSBNs start with 78.

How NSBNs are chosenEdit

Usually, the first two digits are the initials of the company which makes the NSBN.

The next one is the series number, and the third is the book's position in the series. The numbers are got from the initials based on the letters:

The orders come from the order the letters are placed on a Dvorak keyboard, which is PYFGCRLAOEUIDHTNSQJKXBMWVZ.

So, the 23rd Slanch comic published by Acinonyx jubatus will be AJ (Acinonyx jubatus)-S (Slanch) - book number (23) - check digit, or 78-6-23-9.
